I'm going on holiday to Lanzarote for a week on Saturday and I really cannot wait! The last time I was there was 10 years ago for my friend's wedding but I got pneumonia and missed her special day. Obviously I am hoping to put those bad memories behind me and create new, happy ones on this holiday. I won't be posting again before we go so today I want to share the makeup that I'm bringing with me. I love having my entire collection at hand so I really find it difficult to pack my makeup bag (I find it easier to pack my clothes!) but I'm trying not to be too ridiculous with what I bring. I never wear makeup during the day on a sun holiday (except for a mascara) so everything is aimed toward evening/night time. Let's get started!
I'm bringing two primers: DHC Velvet Skin Coat and Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. The DHC primer glides over my open pores and fine lines, providing the perfect smooth base for foundation but it also looks great on no-makeup days. I'm bringing the Clarins primer for a moisture boost in case my skin feels a bit dry.
For my base, I am bringing BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation, which is perfect for summer. It gives light but buildable coverage and feels weightless on the skin. I love a dewy finish at the best of times, but especially on holiday and this is just perfect foundation to give that effect and it diminishes the look of fine lines too so it is my all round perfect base!
Concealer: YSL Touche Eclat is all I need for my under eye area because it is light in texture and really brightens that area but I am also bringing Tarte Tape Shape Contour Concealer in case any blemishes appear as it is full coverage but doesn't feel too heavy on my skin.
Setting Spray: I have a mini Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (old packaging), which is perfect for travel due to its size and it really does ensure that my makeup doesn't budge all night. There should be enough left in it to last me for the week and then I'll be able to repurchase in the new, cooler packaging! I am also going to bring DHC Blotting Papers because I've been loving these over the last week during the heatwave - I took them with me at the weekend when I went to see Robbie Williams in the stifling heat and humidity of a large crowd and there were perfect in my handbag for quick touch ups so they have to come on holiday!.
Powder/Bronzer/Blush: For convenience, I am bringing my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette because this houses my favourite powders, two blushes and one bronzer. There was no competition!
I am bringing one powder highlighter, which is Champagne Pop and one cream highlighter, which is Natasha Denona Face Glow Cream Shimmer. Both of these products add some serious luminosity to the tops of my cheekbones and along my collar bone and I adore the warm tones, which will compliment my tan. They are also very easy to work with - both applying and blending very easily!
Mascara: For during the day, I am bringing DHC Double Protection mascara, which is a tubing mascara. Tubing mascaras coat each lash in product, which then dries, shrinks and "tubes" the lash. The genius thing about tubing mascaras is that they do not smudge and can only be removed with warm water and each individual tube is removed with your fingers. This mascara doesn't budge at all so it will be perfect to add some definition to my lashes during the day without looking too O.T.T. For evening wear, I am bringing my trusty YSL Faux Cils, which adds lots of volume for dramatic, non-crispy, very black lashes that don't smudge.
Liner: I am utterly obsessed with the DHC Liquid Liner EX in black at the moment. It is so much better than Kat Von D Tattoo and Ink liners and certainly gives Stila Stay All Day Liner a run for its money. It has a fine nib so I can do a quick fine line if I want but it is also perfect for building up to a cat flick and this liner seriously does.not.budge!! The ultimate test was at the concert last weekend where I assumed I would have no makeup on my face at the end of the night - I did have some but the one thing that was literally perfect was my liner - that is no mean feat on my oily lid/watery eye combination on the hottest day of the year! Obsessed!
Brows: I am bringing only two brow products - the first is NYX Micro Brow Pencil, which my friend Zoe recommended to me. It is the perfect Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz dupe - it has a fine nib, it's overly stiff or too soft and has a decent spoolie on the other end. The second product is Benefit "Ready, Set, Brow" Clear Brow Gel, which is brilliant for setting my brows without making them crispy!
Eyeshadow: I always wear Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base because it is simply the best eye primer I have ever tried. I am bringing two palettes (although I might narrow it down to just one before Saturday) - The Master Palette by Mario and Stila Eyes Are The Window Soul palette. Both of these will cover my warm bronze and gold eye preferences and there are also some darker shades if I want to smoke it up a bit. Both have really easy to work with shadows - pigmented, finely milled, soft, long-lasting and they blend easily.
Lip options: I am bring two liners, two lipsticks and two glosses - which is pretty restrained for me! The two lip liners are both from Charlotte Tilbury - Iconic Nude and Pillow Talk. Pillow Talk is pretty close to my natural lip colour so will go with all other lip products. The glosses are Marc Jacobs Sugar Sugar - a high shine nude gloss and Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in the shade Dainty, which is a pinky nude. Both glosses are very pigmented, non-sticky and pretty long-lasting in terms of glosses. The two lipsticks are Charlotte Tilbury Lost Cherry, which is a vibrant pinky-red shade - perfect for summer holidays and Clinique Lip Pop in Melon Pop, which is a beautiful peach shade - again perfect for summer!
I think I have all bases covered with these products! What kind of look do you go for on holiday? Do you bring minimal makeup or everything but the kitchen sink?! I'd love to hear in the comments below!
I won't be posting again until after my holiday because I just want to switch off and enjoy the time with my husband so see you all early next month!

All products are bought by me, unless otherwise stated. In this case, the DHC products were sent to me. Opinion is always my own.
