It's time for another Brand Focus post and this time it's all things Charlotte Tilbury. If you haven't seen my other Brand Focus posts, you can check them out here. As with the other posts in this category, this is not a sponsored post and I bought all of the products here myself or they were gifts from family. When Charlotte Tilbury first released her range, I was initially overwhelmed by the choice and I pretty much wanted everything (like everybody else, I'm sure) but I started with one of her eyeshadow quads and her famous Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in the shade Pillow Talk and from there, the love affair began and today I am going to share my thoughts on the range with you! I absolutely adore the art deco packaging of the entire range - it looks and feels very luxurious and definitely looks great on the dressing table but it's the products inside that count so let's get started....
Wonderglow: As far as I am aware, this is the only primer in the Charlotte Tilbury range but I don't think it will be for everyone because, as the name suggests, it adds some glow and dewiness to the skin and that's not the look that everyone goes for - personally, I'm all about the glow! This product instantly adds life to dull skin but not in a fake pearlescent way - it just gives a very "lit from within" look and makes the skin look a little plumper and more youthful. It is nice worn alone on no makeup days too.
Light Wonder: (Not pictured as I left it in In-Law's house at Easter). There are two foundations available - Magic Foundation and Light Wonder. The former is full coverage, which is not my personal preference but Light Wonder is a truly beautiful base. It gives light, buildable coverage - it doesn't highlight fine lines or pores and it adds some luminosity to the skin.
The Retoucher: There are two concealers available but I have only tried The Retoucher. This has a brush applicator, similar to YSL Touch Eclat and it is perfect for touch ups on the go. The coverage is a solid medium, which I find perfect for both my under eye area and blemishes (as long as they aren't extremely bright red) and it can be layered on top of makeup during the day without looking cakey. The formula is quite hydrating but not overly so and it doesn't budge once applied or settle into fine lines. One of my favourite concealers!
Cheek to Chic Swirl & Pop Blush in Ecstasy: This blush was on my wishlist for the longest time so I treated myself recently and I have no regrets! The formula of the blush is a dream to work with - soft, finely milled and easy to blend. This particular shade suits my medium skin tone and adds some much need glow and life to my skin. It's pigmented but not overly so and I find it to last a good 8 hours on my skin. I'll definitely be buying at least one more of these blushes.
Filmstar Bronze & Glow: This is probably the most famous of Charlotte's products and with very good reason. I love everything about this product - from the stunning, art deco packaging to the products inside. The sculpt shade is perfect for adding some soft definition to my face - it isn't too warm nor grey - it basically just makes me look healthier with a gentle contour. The highlight shade adds some soft luminosity to the tops of my cheekbones and cupid's bow but it's very wearable, suitable for daytime use. If strobe-like highlight is your thing, this won't be for you but for a very flattering glow, I highly recommend it. The texture is soft, which means that it doesn't settle into fine lines and it applies easily and beautifully. It also lasts forever - I don't know when I'll ever hit pan!
Powder & Sculpt Brush: I bought this brush to go with Bronze & Glow because I didn't have a brush that I was happy to contour with. The tapered shape of this brush makes it the perfect fit for the hollows of my cheeks and means I don't overload my face with product. It has washed so well - I own it around two years now and it's still as good as new.
Eyeshadow Quads: I have three eyeshadow quads and I really like the formula of the shadows. Each quad has a prime, enhance, smoke and pop shade. I find that all of the shades, apart from the pop, are really soft in texture, whereas the pop shades are a little grittier. All are pigmented, long-lasting and blend well. It obviously isn't necessary to use all 4 shades - the top two in each quad are perfect for daytime wear and then the bottom two can take a look from day to night so they are ideal for after work drinks/dinner when you want to change your look up and the compact quads would fit in most handbags. I have The Dolce Vita, The Golden Goddess and The Rock Chick but there are eight available, depending on which look you want to go for. At £39, they aren't the cheapest eyeshadow option, especially for a quad, but they're still a lot less expensive than Tom Ford, for example and they're a way of adding some luxury to your life without breaking the bank too much!
Legendary Lashes Mascara: I have a total love/hate relationship with this mascara. It's one of the best I've tried in terms of adding volume and a general false lash effect to my lashes, which I love but what I hate is that it smudges on both my lid and under eye area. I have the delightful combination of watery eyes and oily lids and I had read that some people found this mascara to smudge so I really shouldn't have bought it but curiosity for the better of me. If I could get a top coat or sealant of some sort, I could make it work - otherwise I've wasted my money!
Lip Cheat Lip Liners: The famous Pillow Talk Lip Liner was the first one I bought - the perfect pinky/fleshy/nude colour that mimics my natural lip colour and is perfect with most of my lipstick choices or when worn alone. The texture isn't so soft that it will break but isn't so hard that it will drag on the lips. I also bought Iconic Nude as it's more of a true brown.nude shade and it's nice to have a choice.
Lipsticks: K.I.S.S.I.N.G & Matte Revolution: The stunning ribbed, rose gold packaging of these lipsticks is enough to make anybody want them but the formula is what makes them some of my favourites of all of my lipsticks. The mattes are not drying in the slightest and rather than looking flat, they actually make my lips look plump. They are very comfortable to wear and last around 5 hours before they need re-applying. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G. range is also very comfortable and pigmented - one swipe is all that is needed for opacity and the wear time is a little less than the matte range but I can still get around 4 hours before I need to top up. The fact that I now own 10 Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks speaks volumes about how much I love them. See my lipstick post with swatches here and since then I have also added Bitch Perfect to my collection.
When you order from the Charlotte Tilbury site directly, you can choose some free samples, which is how I discovered her perfume - Scent of a Dream. It's a very sexy, feminine and in some ways, an old-fashioned fragrance. I definitely hope to add a bottle to my collection at some point.
I have tried some skincare products with a lot less success than her makeup, however I quite like her Goddess Skin Clay Mask. The new dry sheet mask intrigues me!
If you are yet to try any products from the brand, I would recommend starting with her lipsticks and then Filmstar Bronze & Glow or an eyeshadow quad. Obviously, I haven't tried everything from the brand but I hope you can get a feel for the products from what I've shared here today. There are so many products that I still want to try! I would love to hear your thoughts & recommendations in the comments below!
Charlotte Tilbury products are available on Feel Unique, Cult Beauty, Brown Thomas, Selfridges, John Lewis, Nordstrom and on Charlottes own site. If you order directly from the Charlotte Tilbury site, everything arrives beautifully packaged and even the receipt feels luxurious!
