As you may have noticed, I am no longer doing monthly favourites posts because I just basically began to find the whole format a little boring. Instead, I am posting some favourites as and when I feel like I want to include them on the blog because it feels more natural to me, and today is one of those days!
I have used Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel on and off over the last few years and I really love it but recently I decided to buy their Perfect Cleanser and I am in love! This is a balm cleanser that is really nourishing but not at all greasy. It is also really soothing on the skin, which makes it perfect for when my skin is inflamed and this is due to MSM, amongst other ingredients in this product. MSM is a natural form of organic Sulphur, which is a healing mineral that helps regeneration of cells and is essential in the production of collagen and elastin. I will go into further details about the ingredients in this cleanser in a future post as Brand Focus post, but suffice to say, this is a truly beautiful cleanser that would be suited to all skin types, but particularly dry, sensitive or hormonal skin. It is a pleasure to use and my skin is loving it.
Next up are two old favourites that I recently repurchased from Dermalogica. There was a time that I used only Dermalogica products and then I gradually began to explore other brands, but it is a brand that I will always go back to. Precleanse was my introduction to double-cleansing around 10 years ago and I still love it. It literally breaks down every trace of makeup, including waterproof liner and lots of mascara, but doesn't leave any residue on the skin and leaves my skin feeling very soft. It doesn't sting my eyes at all and is the perfect first cleanse for every skin type.
Daily Microfoliant is gentle enough to be used daily (as the name suggests) but I personally don't use it every day. It is a physical exfoliator in powder form - a small amount is mixed with water to form a paste, which I then apply to my skin in circular motions, but avoiding the eye area. After massaging this in for around a minute, I then rinse with warm water. I notice that this is particularly good for keeping congestion at bay in my chin area and my skin always looks brighten when I use it. It is gentle, yet effective and I think it would work for all skin types.
I bought both of these in a set, which was great value, from Beautythings.co.uk for £43.75, which saved me over £10 compared to if I had bought them individually.
In terms of makeup, I have been shopping my stash a lot but two products that I am using very regularly are Benefit Galifornia blush and Natasha Denona Lip Shiny Lipstick in the shade Peachy Nude. Galifornia is the most beautiful warm pinky-golden blush that really livens up the complexion. If you like Nars Orgasm, I think you will like this but it is less shimmery/glittery so even if you aren't a fan of Orgasm, I would recommend swatching this blush. The lipstick has a creamy texture that is so moisturising and comfortable on the lips, but doesn't slip or smear on to the face! The peachy nude shade is my perfect every day, easy lip colour and it looks great with any look - even on very minimal makeup days. I highly recommend this line of lipsticks if you are in the market for a new lip product because they are similar to MAC Cremesheen but even nicer in texture and they last longer on the lips. There are 39 shades available so there is bound to be something for everybody!
What have you been loving lately? Have you used any of these products? I would love to hear in the comments below!
