I'm sure at this stage that you have all been inundated with Black Friday haul posts, but I actually didn't go too crazy, despite the many amazing discounts. I certainly didn't need any new eyeshadows but when my lovely friend Dagmara told me about the 60% discount on Anastasia Beverly Hills single eyeshadows, I couldn't resist placing an order! I restricted myself to only buying 8 because I didn't want to incur any customs charges (they were priced at $4.80 each) and even with the $17.95 international shipping charge, I bagged a good deal! Also, they offered a free refillable palette with every order of 8 shadows so it was a no-brainer for me! (That's my excuse anyway!)
I already own 3 Anastasia Palettes (Maya Mia, Modern Renaissance and Master Palette by Mario) so I already knew that I love the texture and pigmentation of the shadows, which meant that my only decision was trying to choose just 8 from a total of 104 available options! I had a wishlist and some were already sold out so I had to act fast. I decided that I needed some neutral base colours and also some warm shimmers and I decided on (from left to right on top row):
Bone - ultra matte, ivory
Bling - satin, off white with slightly pink shimmer
Cream - ultra matte, nude
Gem - satin, peach
and (from left to right on bottom row):
Custom - satin, taupe
Chiffon - metallic, gold-bronze mix
Brownie - metallic, warm deep bronze-gold mix
Chocolate Crumble - satin, warm taupe-brown
I absolutely love the shades in the bottom row, whereas the ones in the top row are more functional than anything but still essential for a complete eye look.
The packaging of the palette is heavy cardboard, the same at their Contour palette - it's sturdy and compact making it perfect for travelling, and I love that the pans are easy to remove so that you can switch it up if you want to. The pans are magnetic, which is brilliant as you don't need to faff around with adding magnets. The products took a week exactly to reach me in Ireland, which I think is brilliant when you consider the volume of orders they would have had to process. The actual shipping time was only 2 days once the order was processed.
Overall, I am really delighted with my Black Friday bargain and I'm looking forward to playing with this over the coming weeks and months! I am sure that I will buy some more Anastasia eyeshadows in the future but will probably wait for another whopping discount weekend!
Have you tried any Anastasia eyeshadows? Do you like to build your own palettes? I'd love to hear if you managed to snap up any great bargains in the Black Friday sales? Please tell me in the comments below!
