The Autumn/Winter Glow Edit Part Two: Make-up featuring Natasha Denona, BECCA, Anastasia Beverly Hills & more!

Last week, I shared with you my favourite skincare products to achieve glowing skin in Autumn/Winter (here) but sometimes we all need some extra help because no matter how much water we drink or how well we take care of our skin, it can look dull. I find that if I don't get enough sleep or am just generally very run down, it shows in my face, so today I want to share with you some of the products that I reach for to add some life and glow to my skin!

Primers: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm has been a staple in my collection for many years, which speaks volumes for a beauty junkie like me! It instantly soothes, firms and brightens my skin and is the perfect base for applying foundation over. It won't necessarily extend the wear time of foundation, but it will look fresher and give an overall more rested appearance. Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow is a beautiful primer that blurs fine lines and pores and makes the skin glow. This is perfect for no makeup days when you want to perk your skin up a little. Finally, on days when I need to bring out the big guns, I reach for Becca Backlight Priming Filter. Like the Charlotte Tilbury product, this is like a soft focus filter for the face but it really adds a lot of luminosity to the skin, as well as hydrating and plumping the skin. It is non-greasy and all of my foundations apply perfectly over it and give me that "lit from within" look that I really crave!

Foundations: There are two foundations that I reach for when I want a glowy finish and they are Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation and Natasha Denona Face Glow Foundation. The Chanel foundation is a medium to full coverage base that is glowy but not dewy in finish. I was initially quite disappointed by it but there is no denying the glow that this foundation gives and it lasts quite well on my skin. The Natasha Denona foundation is very dewy and it makes my skin look smooth and very healthy. The coverage is light to medium but it layers very nicely. It doesn't settle into fine lines or accentuate my pores and is overall the perfect base for anybody craving glowing skin. It is very comfortable to wear - in fact, it is so weightless that I don't even notice I am wearing it.

Under eye brightener: My favourite under eye brightening product is YSL Touch Eclat but I don't actually have one at the moment so what I reach for most is MAC Prep & Prime Highlighter in Light Boost. It is yellow in colour and doesn't highlight, but brightens the whole under eye area, so whilst it doesn't add any glow it is an essential in my makeup routine when I need some extra help in looking for awake and less fatigued.

Powder & blush: I am completely obsessed with the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit: Surreal Light. The new Surreal Light powder gives my skin life and a healthy glow without adding coverage or caking. I never thought that I would love a powder, given my dry skin, but this is a game changer. The blushes in the palette also give a nice glow to the cheeks, without being too full on.

Finishing Spray: If all else fails, a quick spray of Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist will make my skin look luminous, but not greasy. It is like an Instagram filter for the face - it blurs and softens the look of everything and gives a youthful glow. This is one of my favourite ever products but it can be hard to get hold of if you don't live in the U.S. but a good alternative is Pixi Glow Mist.

Highlighters: This is where I lose the run of myself! I own a LOT of highlighters and I couldn't choose just one so I have six of my favourites here. All are quite similar in colour - I love a gold/champagne colour rather than pink/silver as that's just what suits my skin best. Some of my favourites are DIOR Diorskin Nude Air Summer Glow Shimmer Powder, BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Champagne Pop, and Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow - all of which are very pigmented and full on "can be seen from outer space" types of highlighters but a more minimal glow can be achieved by using a small amount with a light hand. For a more subtle glow or days when my skin is particularly dry and I prefer not to use powder, I love to dab a small amount of Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting Highlighter in the shade Candlelight on the tops of my cheekbones and it really adds radiance to my skin. I also sometimes mix a few drops of this to my foundation for extra glow. I have the powder version of this too, which I sometimes layer on top. Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer Powder is one of my favourite daytime appropriate highlighters as it is quite subtle but it can also be built up for a night out and is really nice when dusted along the collar bone. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow is another favourite - the soft champagne shade gives a healthy look to the skin without looking too glitter ball-esque and doesn't settle into fine lines - who would want to highlight those?! All of these highlighters are soft, buttery, pigmented and very easy to apply and blend. Although they are quite similar, they all have a place in my collection (that isn't even the half of it to be honest!). I find highlighters are a great quick fix for dull skin days!
