I was browsing the Charlotte Tilbury website last week (forever adding to my wishlist), when I noticed that she had a new lipstick release. Being a massive fan of her lipsticks (everything from packaging to formulation), I knew that I had to buy her latest release The Queen, which she created in homage to Queen Elizabeth II (the longest reigning British monarch).
I love how comfortable her matte lipsticks are because unlike a lot of mattes, they aren't drying in the slightest and this one is no different. Also, despite being matte, the finish isn't flat and I find that it actually makes my lips look fuller and I find the wear time to be pretty good at around 5 hours before fading to a stain. The lipstick itself is a deep crimson pink, which I think would look good on all skin tones (photos of varying skin tones on her site) and I think it looks best paired with very clean, polished base and eyes. The lipstick does the talking! It is priced at £23/€30 and is limited edition, so grab it while you can! I also received a sample of her new perfume Scent of A Dream, which is very different from how I imagined it to be from the reviews I had read. I was under the impression that it would be too sweet for my liking but I personally wouldn't describe it as being overly sweet. It really reminded me of the original Agent Provocateur - a very sexy scent without being too over-powering. It has gone straight on to my wishlist!
Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Kat Von D Beauty products came to Debenhams recently. I already owned a number of Kat Von D products, but to be able to buy them without paying crazy shipping and customs fees is brilliant and I know I'll be adding to my collection. Debenhams kindly sent me a number of Kat Von D products, two of them being lip products. I already own one of her Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and loved the formulation so I was delighted to receive Lolita I (one of her best-selling shades). I had looked at this shade when I was in Orlando in June and didn't buy it at the time because I was unsure if the shade would suit me but now that I have had the chance to actually wear it rather than swatch it, I have found that I really love it and think that it will be a staple for me in Autumn/Winter. It is described as a Chestnut-Rose colour, but I would describe it as a plum/deep mauve/brown. The small doe foot applicator allows for precise application and it dries down quite quickly to a matte, but it doesn't flake or crack on the lips. The wear time is excellent at around 7/8 hours and I don't find that it dries my lips out at all. Overall, this gets a big thumbs up from me and I'm looking forward to trying more shades. It is priced at €20 or £16, which I think is pretty reasonable for the quality.
The other lipstick that I was sent is from her Studded Kiss range, which I had never tried before. I love the packaging of these lipsticks and the Kat Von D logo that is on the bullet itself. Because so many people rave about the liquid lipsticks, I hadn't heard very much about this range so had no preconceptions before trying it. It has a sweet, vanilla scent, similar to MAC lipsticks but if you don't like that scent, fear not because it doesn't linger for too long once applied. I was sent the shade Magick, which is a soft pink with a very faint shimmer running through it. It is very opaque and has a very creamy formulation, which is hydrating and very comfortable to wear. Usually a formulation like this would mean a compromise on wear time but I find that I can get a good 4/5 hours out of this before it needs re-applying. In case you couldn't already tell, I LOVE THIS LIPSTICK! At €20/£16, I think that this is excellent value, especially when compared to the likes of YSL Rouge Volupte or Nars Audacious lipsticks, which are more expensive. I will definitely be buying more from this range.
I would love to hear which of these lipsticks is your favourite? Have your bought any Kat Von D products yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
