Wowsers, how is it the end of August already?! It feels like summer flew by in the blink of an eye and next thing we'll be talking about Christmas! I've had a lovely month with my birthday, my niece's birthday and our wedding anniversary and I have had lots of new products to play with because I received so many lovely pressies! It was difficult to narrow down, but here are my favourite products from August and I've included some bloggers too. I read lots of blogs regularly and the ones mentioned in previous favourites posts are still ones that I read every time they publish a post, but I like to mention more regularly. I should really add a Blogroll section to the top of my blog so that I can link them all at some point. Anyway, let's get on with it!
The only skincare product that I have included is a recent addition to my collection and I have used it daily since receiving it. It is from a brand that I love and it is their latest release: Omorovicza Oxygen Booster. (This was sent to me, but my opinion is entirely my own and I'm not obliged or paid to write about it). If you don't know anything about Omorovicza or have never used any of their products, then let me tell you that they are highly effective, yet very gentle products and all of the products I've used have made a visible and discernible difference to my skin. A few drops Oxygen Booster are added to either serum or moisturiser, morning and night to boost the skin (as the name suggests). It is described as giving an instant botox-like effect, due to its ingredients which include hyaluronic acid, nasturtium-derived polysaccharides and swertia chirata all of which aim to plump the skin, thereby diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I won't pretend to understand the science but I can tell you that my skin is loving this product. I tend to use it in the mornings, sometimes instead of serum, sometimes with my serum and my skin looks and feels very plump afterwards. It has a light gel texture and has a pump, one of which dispenses the perfect amount for my face and neck. It absorbs immediately and has a cooling, soothing effect on the skin and overall my skin looks much fresher. It is still early days but my skin is loving this product. I will report back to you when I have been using it for longer to give you a full review but so far, so good.
A recent rediscovery has been By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Primer. I have previously reviewed this primer so won't repeat everything, and it was neglected in my stash because I bought some new primers but I came back to it this month and remembered why I loved it. It has a light texture, which is perfect for the warm weather we've been having (on and off!) and it blurs fine lines and pores and creates the perfect base for foundation or even just to make my skin look a little more even and less porous on no makeup days! Full review here.
The only foundation that I have worn since I received it has been Milani Conceal & Protect 2 in 1 Foundation & Concealer. This is hands down, the best budget foundation I have ever tried. I have already waxed lyrical about it here so I won't waffle too much but if you like medium-full coverage foundation that is neither matte nor dewy, you need to try this foundation!
The next two products were also birthday gifts and I am obsessed with them. They are Milani Baked Blush Luminoso and Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Peach Glow. The combination of these two products makes my skin look alive and healthy and both are a dream to use. Full review here.
On my lips, I have been absolutely loving Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Kim K.W. paired with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Iconic Nude. It is an easy everyday lip combination that works well with all eye looks and the lipstick is really comfortable to wear and the colour doesn't wash me out despite the fact that I don't have Kim's skin tone. I can see this pair being a staple for me for the foreseeable future.
When I haven't felt like wearing a nude lip, I have been reaching for Make Up Forever Artist Rouge Creme lipstick in the shade C305 Intense Coral. This lipstick was sent to me from the lovely ladies at Precious About Makeup, which is a site set up by makeup artists, for makeup artists but now everybody can shop on there and they have a huge variety of brands that Pro MUAs use, such as Ben Nye, Viseart, Makeup Forever, Louise Young, Kryolan and many more. They ship internationally so I would highly recommend checking the site out! This lipstick is from the new line of lipsticks that Make Up Forever has released and it is from the cream range, which means that it is extremely comfortable on the lips. The lipstick is really pigmented and it lasts a good 5/6 hours on me when it fades to a stain and needs re-applying, which is pretty good going for a cream finish lipstick. The pinky-coral colour is so vibrant and it really lifts my complexion and only needs one quick swipe for a fully opaque finish. The only downside to such a creamy formulation is that the bullet can break quite easily, which means precise application can be difficult if that happens. I love the sleek black packaging and I will definitely be buying more from the range when I change my lip colours up for autumn.
I had to mention Revlon Professional Equave Hydro Nutritive Detangling Conditioner because it's the best detangling spray I've used and really outperforms many more expensive ones that I have used in the past. It has a really fresh scent and is very lightweight so it doesn't weigh the hair down at all. I spray it liberally through my hair and my tangle teezer just glides through my hair afterwards without any tugging. If you have dry hair that is easily knotted, then I would highly recommend trying this product!
Now on to some blog favourites. They are not recent discoveries, I have been reading them all for quite a while but I have't mentioned them on here before. The first is Mammaful Zo, written by the lovely Zoe. She writes very honest reviews (my kind of gal!) on beauty products and we have similar skin and hair types and likes so I always check her blog for recommendations and she also does fashion and lifestyle posts. She does all of this with a smile and is very upbeat and positive, despite having horrendous health problems but you wouldn't know that she had them due to her sunny disposition. I would highly recommend checking her out here.
The next blog is The Makeup Directory, written by the lovely Sally. She posts mainly beauty reviews but has now started to incorporate some lifestyle, fashion, wishlists and blog tips. Her photography is so dreamy and she kindly shares photography tips on her blog. She is the queen of flatlays so you need to check her blog out! Sally recently turned her blog into her full-time job so go & show her some love here.
Finally, I had to mention Thirteen Thoughts, written by Paula. Here you will find posts about everything from beauty to health to food to blog tips - basically a one-stop shop for life! Everything about her blog is dreamy and her positivity and grace shines through her writing. Check her out here.
If you have made it this far, thank you and well done! I don't usually post very favourites but I had so much to talk about this month! I hope you have all had a great month! Please tell me what your favourites have been & your thoughts on my favourites in the comments below!
Thanks for reading!
