REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Abercrombie & Fitch 'First Instinct' Eau De Toilette for men

I am very excited about today's post where I am reviewing a new Eau De Toilette for men and also giving you the chance to win a 100ml bottle of the fragrance for the man in your life or for yourself if you are one of my male readers! Debenhams kindly sent me two bottles of the fragrance, which is a new launch for them in their men's grooming range

Abercrombie & Fitch is an American casual clothing brand and this is not their first foray into colognes, however First Instinct is quite different to their other offerings. The bottle is quite weighty with a shallow water wave effect to the glass and a silver panel on the side with the name of the aftershave on it and a grooved, striped lid. The scent itself is a mixture of warmth and spice but is also very fresh. It isn't fresh in an aquatic way but the spice is fresh in so far as it isn't heavy or woody. It isn't too over-powering, yet the scent is long-lasting and over time the different layers of the scent are more apparent.

The top notes are Gin & Tonic and melon, the middle notes are Szechuan pepper and violet and the base notes are suede musk and sleek amber. For reference, I would say that if you (or your man) likes Lancome Hypnose or D&G The One, then you would like this scent as it is quite similar but with a modern twist.

What I love about Debenhams is that they offer a Try Something New Guarantee with a certain number of products, whereby you will receive a mini sample alongside your full size purchase so that you can test it before opening the full size product. If you find from the sample that the product is not to your taste, then you can return the unopened full size to Debenhams for a full refund. Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct is part of that Try Something New range at the moment so it is a win/win situation if you have a birthday or other celebration coming up for the man in your life.

Do you like the sound of this scent? I hope I have done it some justice because describing scents is no easy task! I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
