My summer make-up picks featuring Urban Decay, Hourglass, Clinique, Marc Jacobs & more!

Summer has finally arrived here in Ireland and it gave me the kick up the bum that I needed to finally sort out my make-up and put my summer-appropriate products in my Muji drawers that sit on top of my storage so they are close to hand. I'm into glowing skin, coral cheeks, bronze/brown eyes and bright lips for summer so if that is you sort of thing, keep reading!

For primer, the product that I will reach for most is Marc Jacobs Under (Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer because it is hydrating but is very light in texture so it doesn't feel too heavy on the skin and doesn't make it too greasy. Wonderglow by Charlotte Tilbury is another primer that I will use over the summer months because I find that it blurs my pores and adds a light glow at the same time as hydrating my skin. This looks good worn alone too.

I like to keep my base light and glowy because I don't like anything that feels too heavy on the skin or with high coverage during the summer so I have two products that are ideal: Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow (which has SPF 30) and Urban Decay One and Done (contains SPF 20). Maestro Glow is best applied with a beauty blender for light coverage and I don't find that it accentuates pore visibility or fine lines. It is bi-phase so it is very necessary to shake it well before using. I find that it gives glow without making me look greasy/sweaty! One and Done gives medium coverage and also really blurs my pores and fine lines. It is so much more than a CC cream - actually it's the perfect hybrid of tinted moisturiser and foundation and it feels very light on the skin. It has a satin finish and has a pretty good wear time - I always use a setting spray, and the best one I've found for summer is Urban Decay All Nighter. I'm currently addicted to bareMinerals Complete Coverage Serum Concealer because it can be used on all areas of the face, blends seamlessly and doesn't crease or cake - what's not to love?!

For bronzer, my current most reached for is Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze - it gives a very healthy, radiant glow and warmth to my skin as long as I use a very light hand! For a gentle contour, I use Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow because heavy contouring isn't my thing, especially in summer! I also love the highlight part of the palette but being the highlighter fiend that I am, I have a few others on rotation too. I recently bought Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Light - I think that medium would have worked better for me but I do love the glow that this product gives. It is very finely milled, really soft and isn't at all glittery, just very glowy! The BECCA/Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette (at the time of writing, it is back in stock in Space NK!) is obviously going to feature heavily this summer. I already love Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop is just as beautiful although more gold in tone - both are buttery soft and very pigmented. I will also use the blushes in the palette, albeit sparingly because they are very highly pigmented but still very wearable. Hourglass Dim Infusion has been a favourite for a long time - it is the perfect coral shade and makes me look a lot healthier than I actually am! This is the blush that I go to when I'm not sure what to wear.

Nars Smudge Proof  Eyeshadow Base is an absolute essential for me because despite having dry skin, I have very oily eyelids and this product makes sure that my eyeshadow will not budge no matter how long I wear it or what the temperature. I prefer it to the Urban Decay, Too Faced, Benefit and Smashbox primers I have tried. For shadows, I love bronze/warm tones in summer and the palettes that I am currently loving are Tartelette In Bloom and Stila Eyes are the Window Soul. Both have matte and shimmer shadows and are actually very similar so it's not necessary to own both but being the palette addict that I am, I just couldn't help myself!

Finally, on to lips! Clinique Wow Pop is my perfect summer pink - I love how vibrant the shade is and because it is a primer and lipstick in one, it lasts longer than lipsticks usually do and when it fades, it leaves a stain. I really love this lipstick formulation so I know I will be using Melon Pop a lot this summer also. It's an easy everyday coral lip colour and is flattering against my skin tone. The third lipstick that I love in summer is Charlotte Tilbury Lost Cherry because the pink/red shade looks good against tanned skin. My nude lip option is a gloss - Sugar Sugar from Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer. After my disappointment with Love Buzz, I am pleased to say that this gloss is pigmented and it gives a very high shine finish but without the gloopy stickiness of some glosses. Another beautiful gloss is Peony from Anastasia Beverly Hills, which is a soft mid-toned pink - very easy to wear with minimal make-up. For no make-up days, I'll be wearing Dior Lip Glow Lip Balm, which enhances my natural lip colour and is a nice alternative to bare lips.

Well done if you have made it this far! I would love to hear your thoughts on these products and what your go-to products will be this summer? Please tell me in the comments below!
