When it comes to haircare, I tend to use a mix of high end and budget brands. There are some real gems to be found in the supermarket/drugstore but today I am going to share my thoughts on the high end products that I have in my collection. For reference, I have dry/damaged coloured long hair and I use products that aim to repair, add volume & shine.
Show Beauty Premiere Working Texture Spray: I bought this a few months ago because I wanted a texture spray and this was less expensive than the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray. It is a 250ml can so I expect it to last a long time because I don't need to use very much of it to add some volume to my hair. I love the luxe packaging - the black and gold is very classic and I love the diamond pattern on the heavy glass lid. I use this spray after drying my hair to add some volume and texture and what I love about this product is that it also adds hold so I don't need to use hairspray too. The volume effect is instant but from experience, I would highly recommend not holding it too close to the roots because it can be sticky if it is too concentrated. Only a small amount is needed to add texture and a LOT of volume. It has a slightly sweet scent but nothing very overpowering. Overall, I really like this product and it was the best texturising spray I had ever tried until the next product came into my life.....
Oribe Dry Texturising Spray: I bought this recently in the Glamour Summer Beauty Edit Box (I bought the box for this product alone!). This is a cult/hyped product with very good reason. It adds texture and volume without any stickiness or weighing the hair down or product build up. It was love at first spray with this one! It is such a pity that it is so expensive but it really is the best texturising spray ever and I know that I will purchase a full size bottle when I have finished both this & the Show spray. There is nothing not to love here (if we ignore the price!).
Oribe Balm d'Or Heat Styling Shield: Another pricey product but this is another really beautiful product from Oribe. I run this through my damp hair before any heat is applied and only a small amount is needed. It a cream/lotion but doesn't weigh the hair down at all. When I use this, my hair is very bouncy & feels like a salon blow-dry. I don't think I've ever read a review of this before but it deserves more hype. This doesn't add volume but for bounce and protection, this is an excellent product.
Kérastase Resistance Sérum Therapiste: Kérastase is not necessarily a luxury brand but it is definitely not in the budget category. I adore Kérastase products in general, but especially the Resistance range. This is a dual effect heat protectant - the pump dispenses two products, one of which has an oil texture and the other is a serum texture. Together these products protect the hair against heat damage but also make it feel very soft and split ends are less visible and the hair is overall smoother. I adore the fresh scent from this product and it lingers in the hair. It is more affordable than the Oribe heat protectant and it gets a big thumbs up from me.
Kérastase Elixir Ultime Volumising Oil Mist for Fine Hair: I regularly use the original Kérastase Elixir Ultime oil and I actually purchased this product in error instead of buying the original oil. This bi-phase oil is lighter in texture than the original and it comes in a spray bottle. I use this as a finishing spray to add some shine to my hair and whilst it definitely delivers shine, I find that my hair gets greasy more quickly when I use this. I will continue to use it because it's a pricey product but I prefer the original oil that comes with a pump so I won't be repurchasing this when I finish it.
Do you prefer budget or high end haircare products or do you use a mixture of both like I do? I'd love to hear what your favourite haircare products are? Please tell me in the comments below!
