Recent lipstick and gloss additions featuring Kat Von D, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Marc Jacobs & more!

I went a little bit lip product crazy when I visited Sephora last month (haul here) and today I want to share my initial thoughts on the six lip products that I bought and show you swatches of each of them. There are two liquid lipsticks and four glosses here - I know that liquid lipsticks are really having a moment but my personal preference has always been a gloss! Let's get started!

Too Faced Melted Lipstick Chihuahua: I have so many Too Faced products that I absolutely love so I had high hopes for this product! First up, I have to say that I am not crazy about the applicator and feel that things could get messy easily with it so I tend to use a lip brush to apply this product. It was quite a sweet scent but that dissipates when on the lips so don't let that put you off. The pigmentation of this liquid lipstick is excellent (as I would expect from Too Faced) and the staying power is probably around 5 hours on me. The colour is a little deeper/darker than I expected - it is less pink and more nude than the tube would suggest, but still very wearable. I don't find it to be too drying on my lips but I always apply generous amounts of lip balm morning and night & throughout the day if I am not wearing a lip product so that generally keeps my lips very soft and moisturised. Overall, I like this liquid lipstick and will probably try some other colours but it hasn't blown me away.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Lovesick: Lots of people rave about Lolita and Lolita II but when I saw them in the flesh, I knew that neither one was to my taste as they were a little too dark for me so I chose Lovesick and I'm glad that I did. This is a mauve-pink colour, extremely pigmented, comfortable to wear, non-drying and is the longest-lasting lip product that I have ever used. The foam applicator allows for precise application, although the wand itself is quite long so it may take a little getting used to. I will definitely be picking more of these liquid lipsticks up!

tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint Goals: tarte recently introduced Glossy and Matte Lip Paints and I probably would have picked up some of the matte ones if the shade selection was wider in the Sephora I visited. I am very happy with the gloss I chose. Goals is described as a rosy nude, which I think is the perfect description - not too brown, not too pink but a nude all the same. This gloss is very opaque, which is not generally the norm for glosses and it is extremely comfortable on the lips. The wand is short but the applicator itself gives very precise application. Unlike a lot of glosses, this is non-sticky (who has time for glosses that stick to your hair these days?!) and this colour gives the lips a very plumping effect. As with most glosses, the wear time isn't great but due to the pretty natural colour and size of applicator, you could pretty much apply this with your eyes closed! This will be a handbag staple for me.

Marc Jacobs Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Love Buzz: This is the complete opposite of the tarte products in terms if opacity - it is difficult to see any colour from this, however the shine is there to see. It smells like mint chocolate and is very moisturising on the lips. I will combine this with other lip products to make it work, but had I known it would be so sheer I wouldn't have bought this. (I have since bought Sugar Sugar which is more pigmented and I love it but more on that in another post). For $28, I expected more!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Dainty: I knew that I loved the formulation of ABH glosses because I already own Maui, which I bought last year. (As an aside, I found her liquid lipsticks to be far too drying).  These glosses have a very sweet (toffee/vanilla) scent, are very pigmented and are quite long-lasting for glosses. They apply evenly and are non-sticky - what more could you ask for in a gloss?! I adore this soft peach/nude colour and will be wearing it a lot over the summer months. I also bought this gloss in the shade Peony, which is a soft mid-toned pink - a very pretty colour. I already know that I will add more of these glosses to my collection - I just wish they were available to buy this side of the Atlantic, but then again, any excuse for a Sephora order!

Which of these products is your favourite from the swatches? I'd love to hear your thoughts and also your recommendations on colours from the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick collection? What lip products have you been buying recently? I'd love to hear in the comments below!
