Skincare for the men in your life featuring L'Occitane!

I haven't spoken about skincare for men on the blog before but I'm not sure why, because I've introduced converted my husband into a bit of a skincare enthusiast over the 16 years we've been together. Okay, maybe enthusiast is exaggerating it slightly, but he has seen and felt the benefits of my skincare collection over the years and now has a regular skincare routine going. L'Occitane got in touch to see if I would be interested if blogging about their men's collection so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to blog about skincare for men and also hear what products or routines the men in your lives have going on!

When I first met my husband, he used a basic face wash and sometimes some E45 cream when he had patches of eczema. The face wash was foaming and the wrong type for his skin so I gradually introduced him to non-soapy cleansing gels, exfoliators and a daily moisturiser. He has a different skin type to me (I'm dehydrated/sensitive/dry and he is normal/combination) so I often pass a product on to him if I think it will work better for his skin than mine.

Many brands have a separate men's skincare section, which I think is good because the packaging of their mainstream skincare can be quite girly, so if nothing else, the less-feminine packaging may entice men to use the products and take care of their skin. L'Occitane is one such brand and it has an extensive range of shaving products (oils, gels and creams), after shave balm, cleansers, moisturisers, shower gels, haircare, deodorants and fragrances in its men's section. As with ladies' products, there are a variety of fragrances and types available depending on needs/preferences. Eau De Cedrat and Verbena are my favourites because they are woody (former) and citrus (latter) scents but there are warmer, muskier scents in there too.

If you would like to encourage the men in your life to get into skincare, then one of the travel sets would be a good place to start because there are 4 mini products in there, which would give them a chance to test the products to see if they suit them. I'm going to get one for my husband to bring on holiday next month!

I would love to know if the men in your life use skincare products and if they prefer to use products from "men's collections" rather than share your products? Please tell me in the comments below! I think it will be interesting to hear because I know my father never used anything but soap and water but I think that has changed with the generations because my brothers and husband use some skincare products. I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts!
