On Saturday I posted my top fifteen make-up items from 2015 (here) but I've been quite restrained today and have narrowed it down to my top ten skincare items from the year. Realistically, I could have written about my top twenty, being the skincare addict that I am, but I pushed myself to just pick ten products. These have all featured heavily throughout the year so I won't waffle on for too long about them but will briefly explain why each one made the final cut. Let's get started!
In terms of cleansers, two have really stood out for me this year and both were new discoveries: Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm and Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser. Both are quite pricey and I find that I fly through the Omorovicza cleanser, but my skin absolutely loves it. It is extremely gentle, which really surprised me, and it leaves my skin very clean but not stripped, hydrated, comfortable and happy. I have reviewed it further here. The Aurelia cleanser is perfect for stressed skin because it is soothing and healing and my skin absolutely loves it for those reasons. I went through a bad patch with my skin during the summer but once I started to use this, things calmed down and began to heal. Read a further review here.
Pixi Glow Tonic is my favourite chemical exfoliant and I repurchased it two or three times this year. It is now a staple in my routine and I love how soft it leaves my skin and also how it helps with radiance minimizing pores and general maintenance of my skin. It is very gentle and keeps those pesky little bumps around the jawline at bay. A must-have.
In terms of eye cream, the one that has really stood out for me this year is Clinique Smart Custom Repair Eye Serum. It is extremely lightweight so you don't have worry about it causing milia, and it really hydrates the eye area and softens fine lines. I am a fan of the face serum but think I like this eye serum even more.
In terms of serums, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair has been a staple for years for me. It heals, plumps, softens, firms and boosts the skin. I cannot be without it and I also thinks it really helps at times when sleep is lacking because usually my skin is the first area to show lack of sleep, but with this product, my skin doesn't suffer. I also love that it comes with a pipette, which prevents me using too much - something I can be very guilty of! A 10/10 product for me. Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster is an excellent product if you have dry or dehydrated skin like I do. It has a very light, almost silky, texture and it absorbs immediately, yet the effects can be felt all day. I love that it helps my skin to feel soft all day.
I have tried so many hydrating moisturisers, but if I could only choose one from the year, it has to be Estee Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme, which I recently repurchased. The name says it all - it hydrates and adds lots of moisture to the skin, leaving it feeling and looking very comfortable and soft. At night, I love to use oils and the absolute stand out for me this year was Nude Progenius Omega Treatment Oil. I began using this over the summer, when my skin was crying out for moisture, particularly when I was on holiday. It is non-greasy, easily absorbed, deeply moisturising and makes a very visible difference to the skin immediately. It is hands-down the very best facial oil I have ever used. Expensive, but the 30ml bottle lasts around 6/7 months. If you have dry skin, do your skin a favour and buy this oil!
Finally, the toughest category for me - masks! I own and love so many masks but for regular readers, this will come as no surprise. My two favourite masks are GLAMGLOW ThirstyMud mask for hydration and visible plumpness, and Oskia Renaissance mask for bright, clear, soft and youthful skin. Both of these masks deliver fantastic results.
I would really love to know what your stand out skincare products from 2015 are? Please tell me in the comments below and any suggestions you might have for dry and dehydrated skin.
Come back on Wednesday for my favourite hair/body/nails and miscellaneous products from the year!
Thanks for reading!
